Portland, TN (PRWEB) July 1, 2008

Jim Sullivan, owner of SJS Enterprise and Sullivan Guitars & Stateline Luthier Works, a luthier by trade, has just launched an acoustic guitar accessories website focused on the discerning acoustic guitar player’s needs for quality sound. Jim has been a long time supporter of the Chet Atkin Appreciation Society (CAAS) which is holding it’s annual convention July 9th – 12th In Nashville, TN. In conjunction with that event Acoustic Guitar Corner is offering 10% off on all purchases including available guitars, details are on

Jim started his career under the tutelage of Paul McGill and later set off to build guitars under his own name. Utilizing the techniques he learned with McGill and others, coupled with the attitude of building without compromise or mediocrity, he now builds some of the best acoustic guitars available in today’s market. He has taken that philosophy and transferred it to the recently established Acoustic Guitar Corner website.

Acoustic Guitar Corner features quality acoustic guitar accessories as opposed to the discount department store mentality. One of the products offered is the L.R. Baggs Core 1 Acoustic Reference Amplifier which by one reviewer was described as the “Swiss Army Knife of Amplifiers”. Core 1 Acoustic Reference Amplifier is truly a remarkable piece of equipment weighing only 28 lbs, yet delivering a ton of acoustic guitar sound. Acoustic Guitar Corner strives to help you find the sonic perfection you are looking for.

In a world of compromise and mediocrity, SJS Enterprises brings a refreshing level of quality and sophistication to musicians everywhere. Acoustic Guitar Corner is striving to build a network for musicians and a directory of acoustic guitar resources. At Acoustic Guitar Corner you’ll find everything from a handmade acoustic guitar to instructional DVDs as well as a place to network and exchange links. A website built by a guitar player and dedicated guitar enthusiast for dedicated guitar players who are passionate about their craft.

Have you heard his compositions? Tommy is a legend. I am sure Jose would agree. :) Both are great, but there’s no denying that Tommy has truck load of soul and skill. The fact that he’s showing off is just because he can :) In person he’s the humblest guy you could ever meet

  25. So much runescape!

  26. thumbs up for martin d18

  27. That Gibson is really more precise, and the best tone.

  28. Santiago Calleja July 17, 2013 at 5:57 pm

martin sounds better…gibson sounds a bit cheap compared to the d18. Something there that sets them apart

  29. Martin Just Sound Better !!!

  30. Gibson! warmer sounding.

  31. I have a Gibson and a Martin, but not a big body fan. 1964 Martin 016 and 1929 Gibson L0 are my guitars. Of the two of those, the Gibson edges out the Martin- just seems to ring more and has a slightly boomier bass. But, in this comparison, the Martin just sounds better.,

  32. I have a 70-something J45. Absolutely no complaints on the feel, tone or reliability of it. I’m guessing I’d say the same thing about a Martin as well. My uncle has either a d-18 or a d-28. I played it before & really liked it.

  33. Round three is the evidence is for me. The chords are so much more fuller on the martin. The gibson you straight away notice it sounds less… the low E note farts as well.

  34. I played about 40 guitars before settling on my Martin HD28. played D28, D18, D35, HD28V … played Taylor’, played Gibson J45…

Martin all the way from me. It just oozes a more class.

    But that’s me…

  35. Martin

  36. I’ve lost a lot more money selling Gibsons I’ve owned than the Martins I’ve sold. Buy used Gibsons because they are half price from new. People are forced to sell them at half price.

  37. Obuma tried to put Gibson out of business because they donated to the Republican party, Martin donated to the Demoncrap party, he didn’t bother them. I’ll go with Gibson…

  38. LarryRickenbacker July 17, 2013 at 11:06 pm

The Gibson’s top E-string “farted out” a few times-as others here have already mentioned. I’m biased, being a satisfied D-28 owner. I prefer the Martin..what about you?

  39. Michael Shipley July 17, 2013 at 11:44 pm

    Martin sounded better to me.

  40. If you watch the video you will notice when he played the music he cut the playing time of the Gibson down compared to the Martin. He is obviously a Martin fan! I love both of them so I think they should get equal playing. Also he hit the strings to hard on the Gibson which made that e pop. He didn’t strum as hard on the Martin

  41. Yep, the rattly E string on the Gibbo was not my cup of tea. I have a D18 so….

  42. gibson had a bit more clarity but for general playing i have to go with the martin the looseness of the e string in the gibson was the low point of the showdown , probably due to the shorter scale length of the gibson

  43. I don’t understand all the Gibson hate. They both sound fantastic.

  44. beastzanddevilz July 18, 2013 at 2:27 am

    martin all the way

  45. discoveryman59 July 18, 2013 at 2:53 am

If I wanted to play music the Martin, if I wanted to stir paint the Gibson.

  46. Martin for me ,,, Gib has more bass but muddy I find and the mids and highs tinny ,its a matter of taste ,,Ive tried many 4000 $ Gibson and just lack projection and find over priced ,,Martin at least you get great Tone for there pricey guitars ,,just my opinion ,

  47. Taylor

  48. Gibson

  49. Gibson for me.

Maybe Not Best Ever, but Pretty Good, March 2, 2012

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Best Acoustic Guitar Songs Ever (Paperback)

It’s a pretty bold title, using the words “Best” and “Ever”. It probably should be called ‘Some Really Good Acoustic Guitar Songs But There May Be Some You Like That We Left Out That Will Be Included in Another Volume That You Will Have To Purchase Separately’. That being said, there are some really good songs in here. I do like most of the songs included with this book, but some don’t seem to feature the acoustic guitar as prominently as others. In my opinion (as a beginner guitar enthusiast), I would say that about three quarters of the songs are really great for acoustic guitar. If you aren’t familiar with a particular song, you can check it out on YouTube to hear how it is supposed to sound.

This is a quality soft cover book. The sheet music is easy to read and includes TAB. It has a guitar notation legend in the back that explains the meaning of symbols/music notations. Also, there is a pretty good range with respect to level of difficulty. Some of the songs you can pick up quickly and some will take a little more time to master.

Below is a complete list of songs included with this book:

Across the Universe – The Beatles
Against the Wind – Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
    Angie – The Rolling Stones
Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You – Led Zeppelin
Behind Blue Eyes – The Who
Breaking the Girl – Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Crazy on You – Heart
    Daughter – Pearl Jam
    Disarm – Smashing Pumpkins
Dust in the Wind – Kansas
Every Rose Has Its Thorn – Poison
    Foolin’ – Def Leppard
    Free Fallin’ – Tom Petty
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? – Creedence Clearwater Revival
Heaven Beside You – Alice in Chains
I’d Love to Change the World – Ten Years After
    Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
    Jane Says – Jane’s Addiction
The Joker – Steve Miller Band
    Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
Like the Way I Do – Melissa Etheridge
Love the One You’re With – Stephen Stills
    Maggie May – Rod Stewart
Melissa – The Allman Brothers Band
    More than Words – Extreme
    Norwegian Wood – The Beatles
    Pink Houses – John Mellencamp
    Signs – Tesla
    Silent Lucidity – Queensryche
The Space Between – Dave Matthews Band
Tears in Heaven – Eric Clapton
Thick as a Brick – Jethro Tull
    Upside Down – Jack Johnson
Wanted Dead or Alive – Bon Jovi
    You’ve Got a Friend – James Taylor

Best Acoustic Guitar Songs Ever, August 8, 2009
Charles W. Register (Hahira, GA) –

This review is from: Best Acoustic Guitar Songs Ever (Paperback)

A real disappointment……There are so many more better songs than the majority of the ones in this songbook. The title is very misleading……Do not buy this if you are looking for a great selection of acoustic guitar songs.
